Before you book

Everything
worth asking

The questions Joy answers most often, and the handful of rules that keep the diary working for everybody.

Do I need to buy the hair myself?

Yes — bring your own hair and have it pre-stretched. If you would rather Joy sourced it for you, say so when you book and she will price it into the quote.

How many packs of hair do I need?

Three to five packs for most styles, depending on the length and the size you have chosen. Longer or fuller sets need more — ask when she confirms and she will tell you exactly.

Does the hair need to be pre-stretched?

Yes. Pre-stretched hair gives a cleaner finish and takes a meaningful amount of time off the appointment, which keeps the price where it is.

How should my own hair be prepared?

Washed and blow-dried before she arrives, with no oils or products left in it. Braiding onto damp or heavily-product-laden hair does not hold.

How long will it take?

It depends entirely on the style and the size — every style on the services page lists its own range, from about an hour for men's cornrows to five and a half hours for small knotless braids.

What do you need at my place?

A dining chair, a socket, and good light. Everything else travels with her.

How far do you travel?

Across Greater Manchester. The areas included as standard are listed on the About page; beyond them there is a small call-out fee, agreed with you before the booking is confirmed.

How do I pay, and is the deposit refundable?

A £15 deposit holds your slot and comes off the final price on the day — it is not an extra charge. Deposits are non-refundable, because the slot is held for you and turned down for others. The balance is settled once the style is finished.

Can I reschedule or cancel?

Yes, with at least 24 hours' notice, and your deposit moves with you to the new date. Less than 24 hours, or a missed appointment, means a fresh deposit for the next booking.

What happens if I'm running late?

Message her as soon as you know. She will do what she can, but if the style no longer fits the remaining time she may need to shorten it or rebook you.

Can you do more than one person in a visit?

Yes, as long as it is agreed when you book so the right amount of time is set aside. Mention it in the booking notes.

The rules

Short, and all of them

Deposit

£15, non-refundable, taken off the final price on the day. It holds the slot and takes it off the market.

Rescheduling

24 hours' notice and the deposit moves with you. Less than that, or a no-show, and the next booking needs a new one.

Lateness

Message as soon as you know. Past 15 minutes the style may have to be shortened or moved to another day.

The hair

Yours, pre-stretched, three to five packs. Ask in advance if you would rather she brought it.

Your space

A dining chair, a socket and good light. Hair washed and blow-dried, nothing left in it.

Travel

Included across the listed areas. Further out carries a call-out fee, always agreed before confirming.
